My Sisters The Saints by Colleen Carroll Campbell- A Spiritual Blockbuster

This is a very moving spiritual memoir which has much of value both for both Catholic and non Catholic alike. One cannot read this book and remain unchanged. It is a must read.

Colleen grew up in a staunchly Catholic family. However her Catholic beliefs were put to the test when she entered college. She pursued a hectic social life and loved to frequent parties at college. She then entered a spiritual desert. She searched for meaning but found that the secular feminists could not provide any answers to her spiritual dilemma. Eventually she turned to six female saints: Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina of Poland, Edith Stein of Germany, Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Mary of Nazareth. There she found the answers to the spiritual questions and the meaning of life which plagued her.

The book also deals with her time at the White House as a speechwriter for George W Bush and how she met her husband. It charts her infertility problems and describes her father's descent into dementia. Most importantly it shows the power of prayer and how the most difficult of life's problems-whether spiritual or temporal can melt away through that very prayer. This book is a spiritual blockbuster.
